Oh we do want to belong, don’t we?

To be part of, included, to fit in?

That knowledgeable spiritual group, those pretty people, the moneyed successes, the work colleagues or higher ups….

Yeah, we want in.

We’ll do what it takes. Act like they do, wear the cool stuff, say stuff we don’t mean, spend money we don’t have, be quiet when we disagree.

Watch all the self-conscious monitoring and effort to maintain alike-ness, in order to earn inclusion.

All that trying to be something we’re not, just to get others say, “Sure, come in.”

How likely is it that this is what the Universe / God / Consciousness / Nature / Source (pick your favorite word) had in mind for us?

The universe has created infinite variety and here we are trying to standardize and same-it all up.

Does it make sense that what’s needed on this planet is 7 billion identical creations trying to be consistently alike, like McDonald’s burgers?

What for?

What’s the appeal in belonging?

How do we benefit, if we score us a great big batch of belonging?

Could it be that, rather than burgers, we’re meant to be snowflakes, each bit of consciousness a distinctly unique experience?

Of course we’re not “bits”, but we very often experience ourselves as individual bits.

And yet as individuals, isn’t it funny how hard we keep trying to be part of something, and not unique, not separate, not individual?

Isn't it funny how we keep striving to be part of something more than ourselves, something bigger, something more whole?

Maybe we’re confused.

Maybe trying to belong is not necessary because we already do.

Here we all are, every one of us, offering consciousness that distinct one-of-a-kind experience that can only come from flawed, kooky, different, individual ‘Me’.

Here we all are, belonging to humanity, fully and completely part of and included in the infinitely diverse vastness that is consciousness.

How can we not belong?

The ultimate belonging. Without the confusion of separate self, we see that it’s already here, already attained.

We’re in.
